Obituary for Herb Yager
EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Joseph H. “Herb” Yager, 81, of East Liverpool passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.
Herb was born in East Liverpool on October 20, 1942. He was a graduate of East Liverpool High School Class of 1960. Herb was a firefighter with the East Liverpool Fire Department retiring in 2009 after 38 years of service. He enjoyed watching John Wayne movies. Herb was very active in the community helping with many Christmas parades and organizing Toys for Tots.
Preceding Herb in death were his 1st wife Mildred (Stacey) Yager; 2nd wife Cindy (Ross) Yager; son Derrick Whittington; father, who was killed in action in July 1944 in France, Herbert H. Yager; mom Sara (Van Fossen) Yager Hague; stepfather Jack Hague and sister Barbara Bowden.
Left to cherish his memory are his son Brian Yager and his wife Nichole; two daughters Beth Ann Adams and her husband Bill and Karissa Sickelsmith and her husband Eric; six grandchildren Kylie Whittington and her husband Zack Cameron, Nikki Riggs and her husband Michael, Chelsea Waymon and her husband Victor, Tala Yager, Taylor Smith and Blake Alexander; six great grandsons; brother-in-law Robert Bowden and two nieces Rae Ann and Robin Bowden.
Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Monday where the family will be present from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pastor Norm Eckert of Beechwood Free Methodist Church will conduct a service at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. Burial at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
