Obituary for June D. Mooney (Wagoner)

June D. Wagoner Mooney, 85

CHESTER, WV – June D. Wagoner Mooney, of Stone Pear Pavilion, passed away Monday afternoon, December 25, 2017 after a lengthy illness. She was 85.

Born in East Liverpool, Ohio, June 25, 1932, she was a daughter of the late George and Helen Gilson Wagoner. June was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1948 where she participated in the all-girls band. She was also a member of the Newell United Methodist Church for over 50 years and had worked at the Hall China Company at one time.

June was also very active in the Order of the Eastern Star in Chester, West Virginia where she was a past Worthy Matron. She had held a leadership role in The International Order of the Rainbow Girls and was an avid card player.

She was preceded by her husband, Carl C. Mooney, whom she married in September 27, 1950. Together they raised three sons, Terry Mooney and his wife, Lee, Gary Mooney and his wife, Carolyn, and Kelsey Mooney and his wife, Iris, all of New Cumberland. There are five grandchildren, Erin Dudley and her husband Justin, Mathew Mooney, and his companion Chelsea Lamb, Carly Mooney, Corinne Purks, and Charles Laughlin, III, along with two great-grandchildren Elijah Purks and Jayden Adams.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Wagoner.

Friends may visit Thursday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Rev. Kara Rowe will conduct a funeral service Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell.

Following the cemetery service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
