Obituary for Kay Lorraine Adkins (Compa)

EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Kay Lorraine Adkins, 67, of East Liverpool passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at her home with her family by her side.

Kay was born in East Liverpool on July 30, 1953 a daughter of the late Ralph E. and Audrey M. (Snair) Compa. She was a graduate of East Liverpool High School class of 1971. Kay owned and operated Kay’s Place as a dog groomer for over 20 years. She also worked as a certified florist at the Flower Gallery in Lisbon and at her family-owned shop DMARK. Kay was active with the Faith Community Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and choir director. She loved gardening and had a passion for animals. Kay enjoyed feeding the deer and birds in her back yard.

Preceding Kay in death was her sister Mary B. Earl.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 49 years, whom she married June 11, 1971, David Adkins; two sons David Adkins, Jr. of East Liverpool and Jason Adkins and his wife Anita of Lisbon; five grandchildren Garrett Adkins of East Liverpool, Tabitha Randolph of Struthers, OH, Andrea Koon of East Liverpool, Christian Adkins and his wife Susan of Leetonia, OH and Brittany McKnight and her husband Denver of East Liverpool and twelve great grandchildren.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Friday where the family will be present from 4 to 8 p.m. Pastor Kenny Stull will conduct a service at the Funeral Home Saturday at 2 p.m. Burial at Riverview Cemetery. In compliance with Ohio state regulations with concerns of the COVID-19 virus masks must be worn at all times in the funeral home.
