Obituary for Kenneth Samuel McCoy
Negley, Ohio- Kenneth S. McCoy, Sr., 95, of Fredericktown-Clarkson Road passed away Tuesday, August 9th, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. at his residence following a brief illness.
Born March 12th, 1927 in Clarkson, he was a son of the late Garfield and Lessie Grooms McCoy. He spent his lifetime of the property where he was born, retiring as a bus driver for the Beaver Local School System. He was also the retired caretaker of the Mt. Zion and Clarkson Cemeteries.
He attended New Waterford High School. Ken cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, summer picnics, playing cards, family reunions and holidays spent with his entire family. He and his late wife went out of their way to take care of others.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Henderson McCoy, whom he married March 12th, 1949, on March 11th, 2022.
He is survived by three daughters, Susan Brogan of Graham, North Carolina, Sandra Neville and her husband, Donald of Negley, Ohio and Bonnie Frank and her husband, Richard of Alliance, Ohio; and two sons, Kenneth S. McCoy, Jr. and his wife, Nancy of Negley, Ohio and Rex McCoy and his wife, Kim of Negley, Ohio. He also leaves behind a nephew that he raised from age six, Ray McCoy and his wife, Sukie of Leetonia, Ohio. There are sixteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and his wife, Ken was also preceded by three sisters, Estella Dailey, Florence Gorby and Bessie McCoy; and five brothers, Theodore McCoy, Ross McCoy, Albert McCoy, Sr., Lawrence McCoy and Dallas McCoy.
Friends may visit the family on Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool, Ohio. Pastor Cindy Figley of the Negley Methodist Church will officiate a funeral service at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Clarkson Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
