LARRI RAY GAINES, 43

EAST LIVERPOOL – Larri Ray Gaines, of Fifth Avenue LaCroft, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown at 10:24 a.m. Sunday, September 13, 2015. She had been ill for some time and was surrounded at the hour of her death by her loved ones.

Born on July 7, 1972 in East Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Dean and Rebecca Little Gaines. A lifetime Columbiana County resident, she had been a home health aide, working at various nursing homes and assisting with shut-ins in their own homes.

She loved playing UNO and Yahtzee, doing word search puzzles, trying to beat Pacman, watching movies, visiting the Rogers Sale, watching movies, eating special dinners at Longhorn…. Unicorns, Tweety Bird and anything purple. But first and foremost came her children – and she always put them before herself.

Her two sons, Charles David Gaines and Christopher David Gaines, survive at home. Larri also leaves behind her companion, Rollin Whinery, of Salineville. A brother, Jessie Madison and his companion, Patricia Guthrie and her children, Robert and William also survive, as well as a special friend who was like a mother, Lois Smith, and her family. Larri also loved her pet Chihuahua, “Paws”, for nearly 20 years until he crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2012.

A memorial service will be held at the Dawson Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, with Pastor Alvin Talkington of Boyce Methodist Church providing the spoken word.
