Obituary for Laura Ann (Kidder) Swain

LaPORTE, INDIANA – Laura Ann Swain, 58, of LaPorte, Indiana formerly of East Liverpool passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023 at her home.

Laura was born in East Liverpool on June 27, 1964. She was a graduate of East Liverpool High School class of 1982 and Youngstown State University. Laura was employed for 30 years at Chase Bank currently serving as the Director of Software Engineering. She recruited and mentored younger employees and the people she worked with for 30 + years said she was the best manager they have ever had. Laura was a leader in the organization Girls Who Code which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to closing the gender gap in technology and computer science. She was an avid Cubs fan.

Laura loved photography. She enjoyed taking photographs, looking at old family photos and making photo books of her family’s memories. She was an avid traveler who enjoyed going to national parks and traveling abroad. Laura loved giving to charities, painting and baking, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Preceding Laura in death were her son Andrew James Swain and father William D. “Bill” Kidder, Jr.

Left to cherish her memory are husband of 34 years, whom she married September 17, 1988, Steven J. Swain; two sons Jared W. Swain and his wife Brooke and Chad A. Swain; step daughter Amber Swain; three grandchildren Silas Swain, Logan Swain and Navessa Sando; mother Judy (Erickson) Kidder and two brothers Mike Kidder and his wife Nancy and Dean Kidder and his wife Ruthie.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Saturday where the family will be present from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dr. Stephen J. Knisely of First United Methodist Church will conduct a service at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. Burial at New Cumberland Cemetery.
