Obituary for Leona M. Bolton (Swadley)

CHESTER, WEST VIRGINIA – Leona M. Bolton, 100, of East Liverpool peacefully passed away to rejoin the love of her life, her husband Bucky, on Thursday, March 4, 2021 with her loving family by her side.

Leona was born in Harrisville, WV on December 15, 1920 a daughter of the late John and Bonnie (Nutt) Swadley. She loved to play softball and go square dancing as a young lady. Leona was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother whose greatest love was being with her family. She loved to travel with her husband Bucky. Leona was an amazing cook and baker. She was strong willed, hardworking and enjoyed gardening. Leona was a member of the Triangle Seniors.

Preceding Leona in death were her husband, whom she married, June 27, 1944, Bernard E. “Bucky” Bolton; two brothers Leo and Brooks Swadley and four sisters Mary Boggess, Maxine Hickman, Rose Metz and Donnis Hill.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters Loraine Givens and her husband Robert of Virginia Beach, VA and Donna Forzano and her husband Bob of East Liverpool; two granddaughters Stephanie Grey and her husband Bob of East Liverpool and Kimberly Gladding and her husband David of Virginia Beach, VA; three great grandchildren Chad Grey and his wife Kasi of East Liverpool, Chelsea Helkowski and her husband Doug of Alexandria, VA and Nicholas Gladding of Virginia Beach, VA and three great great grandchildren McKenna Grey, Xander Grey and Ariana Helkowski.

A private family service was held at the Dawson Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Edwards of St. John Lutheran Church officiating. She was laid to rest at Columbiana County Memorial Park next to the love of her life, her husband Bucky.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Crossroads Assisted Living for the exceptional care Leona received. They were an important part of her life and became part of her family.
