Obituary for Linda M. Horner

EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Linda M. Bennett Horner, 76, of East Liverpool passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at her home with her family by her side.

Linda was born in East Liverpool on April 14, 1944 a daughter of the late Wilbert and Marcella (Hargreaves) Brookes. She attended East Liverpool High School. Linda worked at Homer Laughlin China as a ware dresser and utility girl. Linda was a former head cheerleading coach for the North Stars. She was a member of Beechwood Free Methodist Church and DAV Ladies Auxiliary. Linda was a wonderful mom, grandma and great grandma.

Preceding Linda in death were her husband, whom she married August 24, 2002, Lawrence W. Horner and brother George Brookes.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Melissa Bennett Coats and her husband Patrick of Chester, WV; son Daniel Bennett and his wife Chris of Columbus, GA; two sisters Ruth Ann Hazlet of New Waterford, OH and Barbara Wharton of Iowa; brother Wilbert Brookes, Jr. and wife Janet of Tucson, AZ; four grandchildren Mindy Richmond of Columbus, GA, Dedra Ours of East Liverpool, Daniel Bennett, Jr. and his wife Kimberly of Columbus, GA and David Bailey III of East Liverpool and eight great grandchildren Dylan, Kaylee, Cameron, Elliana, Cassidy, Owen, Autumn and Maddy.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Monday where the family will be present from 4 to 7 p.m. Pastor Norm Eckert of Beechwood Free Methodist Church will conduct a service at the Funeral Home Tuesday at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens. In compliance with Ohio state regulations with concerns of the COVID-19 virus masks must be worn at all times in the funeral home.

Immediately following the service everyone will gather back at the Beechwood Free Methodist Fellowship Hall in East End for further fellowship and a meal.
