Obituary for Lisa Curran

Lisa Jo Curran, 62

CALCUTTA, OH – Lisa Jo Curran, of Calcutta, passed away Monday evening, November 9, 2020 at the Cleveland Clinic following a two-year illness. She was 62.

Born in Barberton, Ohio, August 1, 1958, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary Bowers Batche. A member of the Coventry High School Class of 1976, she continued her education at the University of Akron. She worked at Kent State University Salem Campus as an administrative clerk in the Admissions Department until her retirement. Lisa loved people – all people from every walk of life. She never knew a stranger and would often keep in touch with all the people she met. Her card club and the “Fab Five” at work were special to her and brought joy to her life. Above all things, she loved and cared for her family the most.

She is survived by her husband, D. Michael Curran, Jr. at home. The couple married May 19, 1979. She also leaves a daughter, Natalie Vantilburg and her husband, Anthony, of Glenmoor, and a son, Douglas Curran and his wife, Carmen, of Fremont, Ohio. She loved being “Gaya” and “Nunnie” to her two grandchildren: Dane Michael Curran and Grayson Robert Vantilburg.

Friends may visit Thursday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 3 to 8 p.m. Masks and social distancing are required. A private family funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.
