Obituary for Marcella "Marci" Reed

Marcella Ann Reed, 88, originally from East Liverpool, OH, died peacefully
on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, in Hot Springs, AR, surrounded by family
members.
Marcella was born on February 14, 1933, in Cleveland. She was the
daughter of the late James Edward and Elizabeth Camilla Magill (Geon)
and had graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1951. Her siblings
were the late James (Ted) Magill of Bethel Park, PA, (and wife Rita Magill
of Tarpon Springs, FL); the late Jane Kelly of Fountain Valley, CA; the late Albert Magill of Long
Beach, CA, the late Robert Magill of Los Angeles, CA; the late Sister Mary Anthony, (Mary
Margaret Magill) PCPA of Canton, OH, and the late Richard Magill (and his wife Nancy of Tarpon
Springs, FL).
Marcella married Patsy Pantoni at Aloysius Church in 1954, in East Liverpool, and after his death
in 1966, married the late Richard Reed in 1979 in Virginia Beach, VA. They renewed their vows
at St. Catherine's Church in Rialto in 1983.
She is survived by her three children: James Pantoni of New Cumberland, PA; Patricia Niewinski
of Wheaton, IL; and Dino (and Xiomara) Pantoni of Waterbury, CT, and by her five step-
children, Jeff (and Kathy) Reed of Hot Springs, AR; Debi Lau of Hot Springs, AR; Shaun (and
Tammie) Reed of East Liverpool; Scot Reed of Las Vegas, NV; and Roni Sue Reed of Lake
Stevens, WA. Marcella also leaves behind six grandchildren: Caterina Pantoni of Farrell, PA;
Grant Niewinski of Barrington, IL; Patrick Niewinski of Chicago, IL; Phillip Niewinski of Chicago,
IL; Gabriela Niewinski of Chicago, IL, and Elizabeth Pantoni of West Haven, CT; as well as six
step-grandchildren: Kathie Sue Martin of Santa Clarita, CA; Trish Nicholas, Pearcy, AR; Brandon
and Joshua Reed of East Liverpool; Samantha Reed of Moscow, ID; and Chayada Reed in Las
Vegas, NV; and well as many great-grandchildren.
She attended local schools, including St. Aloysius and East Liverpool High School, where she
served on numerous alumni committees throughout her tenure in the local community. She
also helped to organize fundraising drives to pave streets in the Beechwood neighborhood area
and was active in collecting funds for March of Dimes, St. Jude's Hospital for Children when she
lived in East Liverpool.
Marcella worked at Value King and was involved in St. Ann's Church until she moved to
Southern California, where she spent almost 20 years working for Rialto Unified School District
in the Children's Nutrition Program. She was active in St. Catherine's Church in Rialto, where
she worked at the thrift shop helping those in need. She also organized and participated in the
American Cancer Relay for Life. After her second husband died in 2009, she moved to Hot
Springs, AR, where she spent her last 11 years with her stepson Jeff and his wife Kathy, and her
stepdaughter Debi Lau and her late husband, Bob.
Marcella loved watching football, mainly Notre Dame Irish, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Green Bay
Packers. She loved to play cards and dominoes and was active in several card clubs. Marcella

was a great woman of faith and was involved in her parish communities as a daily communicant
at St. John Catholic Church in Hot Springs. Her family is very grateful for the care she received
in Hot Springs at Garrett Woods Senior Living, especially from Suzanne Crawford, CNA, who
took care of her.
A memorial mass will be said on her birthday, February 14, 2022, in East Liverpool, Hot Springs,
AR, and Rialto, CA, and a graveside service will be at the family's convenience at St. Aloysius
Cemetery. Dawson Funeral Home is handling all of the arrangements.
