MARGUERITTE HUSTED McPEEK, 88

EAST LIVERPOOL – Margueritte Husted McPeek, of Lisbon Street in East Liverpool, passed away at the age of 88 on Tuesday morning, December 22, 2015 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown.

A daughter of the late Wilbert A. and Anna Cox Husted, she was born in East Liverpool on January 1, 1927. She attended the old Township Line one room schoolhouse until eighth grade, and graduated in 1945 from East Liverpool High School; in her later years, she had been a proud member of the ELHS Alumni Association and its Olde Guard.

Throughout the 1960’s and 70’s, she had been employed by the East Liverpool school system in the cafeteria, first at the high school and later at LaCroft Elementary. Throughout her life, she enjoyed being busy; she had also worked in the library at Kent State’s East Liverpool branch, and had been involved in the Ceramics Museum at one time. In the 1970’s, she was the organizer of the Pottery Festival’s Bake-Off Contest, and always enjoyed baking for others.

She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ Disciples.

Margueritte was preceded in death by three husbands: A. Stanley “Dutch” Hargreaves, Paul Shingler, and most recently Dean McPeek, who died on January 10, 2009.

Her daughter, Beth Hargreaves and her husband, Kent Engelhardt, survive in Youngstown. There are also two stepsons: Dennis McPeek and his wife, Debbie, of East Liverpool, and Jack Shingler and Judy, of Findlay, OH. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, Margueritte was preceded in death by two sons, A. Stanley Hargreaves, Jr. and Charles A. Husted.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Sunday, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Monday, with Rev. Willard Chuck Adkins of the church officiating.
