Obituary for Mark Sullivan Connell
East Liverpool, Ohio- Mark Sullivan Connell, 64, of West Fourth Street passed away Monday, March 9, 2020 at 12:35 a.m. at the Mercy Health - St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman, Ohio following complications with cancer.
Born October 25, 1955 in East Liverpool, he was a son of the late William James and Mary Catherine Sullivan Connell. A lifetime area resident, he attended the Holy Trinity Catholic Church at St. Aloysius Parish in East Liverpool. Mark was a graduate of East Liverpool High School Class of 1974 where he was an outstanding basketball player for the Potters on their hardwood. Mark was currently employed at the Mountaineer Casino and Resort where he worked in their beverage department.
Survivors include his companion, Cheryl Sue Cornell of East Liverpool; one brother, Monsignor William Joseph Connell, Pastor of Holy Family Parish in Poland, Ohio and several cousins.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Lynn Connell in 2012.
Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 12:00 to 3:00p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool. Monsignor Connell will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial for his brother at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Church at St. Aloysius Parish; 235 West Fifth Street; East Liverpool, Ohio 43920.
Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
Immediately following the service family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center.
