Obituary for Marlene Withem Barton

Marlene Withem Barton, 84

EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Marlene Withem Barton, of East Liverpool, passed away Monday, June 27th, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at her home. She was 84.

Born in Pursglove, West Virginia, December 28, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Dean and Hannah Mitchell Withem. A member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1956, she was raised and held membership at the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Marlene was always active, whether it was using her skills as a seamstress, creating ceramic pieces of art, or cooking a wonderful meal in the kitchen. She enjoyed being active and living a healthy lifestyle along with looking her best and her love of jewelry. Above all her talents in life, she was a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Dale S. Barton, at home. The couple married August 2, 1986. She also leaves behind four children, Karla Holden and her husband, Mike of East Liverpool, Korrine Evelsizer and her husband, Rick of Wellsville, Kristy Fisher and her husband, Jerry, of East Liverpool and Darryl Glenn Hoppel II and companion, Paula Weber, of Guilford Lake; three stepchildren, Cindy Shultz and her husband, Herb, of Salem, Dan Barton, of Youngstown, and Jim Barton and his wife, Jill of Canfield.

She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Kandice Evelsizer, Katie Storm and her husband, Justin, Jerry Fisher III and his wife, Kaylee, Kimberly Britt and her husband, Jared, Kendra Evelsizer, Kennedy Huston and her husband, Jake, Taylor Fisher, Sydnie Holden and Rilee Hoppel; and seven step-grandchildren, Jaryl Altomare and his wife, Holly, Josh Altomare, Jana Kanos and her husband, Bob, Jaden Barton, Jentsen Barton, Sara Barton and Dan Barton, Jr.

There are eleven great-grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by eight sisters: Donna Wines, Lila “Sis” Withem, Ellen Talbott, Millie Eaton, Juanita Withem Naron, Ruth Withem, Betty Pearl Campbell and Audrey A. Stacey, and five brothers: Harry Whittenberger, Donald Withem, Kenneth Withem, Cecil Withem and Wayne “Witty” Whittenberger.

Pastor Jim Barton, Marlene’s stepson, will officiate a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit two hours prior to the service from 2 to 4 p.m.

Immediately following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
