Obituary for Mary Lou Eberhart

Mary Lou Eberhart, 78

EAST LIVERPOOL – Longtime East Liverpool City Schools administrative assistant Mary Lou Eberhart, of St. Clair Avenue in East Liverpool, passed away Friday morning, July 26, 2019, following a lengthy illness. She was 78.

Born in East Liverpool on June 23, 1941, Mary Lou was a daughter of the late Hollis L. and Billie Glass Fisher.

A 1959 graduate of East Liverpool High School, she worked for over 40 years in the East Liverpool school system, having served as secretary to the Superintendent for 34 of those years. Through her association with the schools, she took a keen interest in the lives of the students as well as the faculty, and was always concerned about the welfare of others.

Mary Lou’s Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was a longtime member of the First Church of Christ (Disciples), where she served as a deaconess and sang in the choir at one time. She belonged to the Crystal Chapter #18 Order of the Eastern Star, the East Liverpool Assembly #71 Social Order of the Beauceant, and was also a member of the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association.

She married her husband, James Richard Eberhart, Sr., on December 17, 1960, and they shared great joy in raising their two sons in this community. Their oldest son, James Richard Eberhart, Jr., passed away on September 22, 2011. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Jean Fisher and a brother, Richard Fisher.

Surviving is her son, Michael Scott Eberhart and his husband, Jim Larner, of Washington, DC. A beloved granddaughter, McKenna, also survives.

Friends may visit Sunday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 4 to 7 p.m. Rev. Willard Chuck Adkins of the church will conduct a funeral service Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Union Cemetery in New Manchester, West Virginia.
