Obituary for Mary Lou McCoy

Negley, Ohio- Mary Lou Henderson McCoy, 93, of Fredricktown–Clarkson Road passed away Friday, March 11th, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Alzheimer’s Center in Columbiana, Ohio following a lengthy illness.

Born December 28th, 1928 in Ohioville, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late George and Mabel Hunter Henderson.

Prior to her children being born, she worked at the former Chamberlain’s Meat Market. She was a graduate of Midland High School Class of 1946.

Mary Lou cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, summer picnics, playing cards, family reunions and holidays and being with her entire family. She and her husband went out of their way to take care of others.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth S. McCoy, Sr., whom she married March 12, 1949, at home. There are three daughters, Susan Brogan of Graham, North Carolina, Sandra Neville and her husband, Donald of Negley, Ohio, and Bonnie Frank and her husband, Richard of Alliance, Ohio; and two sons, Kenneth S. McCoy, Jr. and his wife, Nancy of Negley, Ohio and Rex McCoy and his wife, Kim of Negley, Ohio. She also leaves behind a nephew that she raised from age 6, Ray McCoy and his wife, Sukie of Leetonia, Ohio.

There are sixteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one sister-in-law, Marjorie Henderson and one brother-in-law, Richard Gailey.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth May, Velma Gailey and Mabel Mazine; and four brothers, Art Henderson, Dale Henderson, Lester Henderson and Harold Henderson

Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool, Ohio. Pastor Jim Rhodes of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church will officiate a funeral service at 6:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Clarkson Cemetery at 10:00 am Wednesday.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Alzheimer’s Center for their wonderful care.

The family also requests contributions be made to the Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Mary Lou’s Name.
