Obituary for Mary Elizabeth "Meem" Murray (Meanor)

Chester, West Virginia- Mary E. Murray, 89, of River Street passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 3:32 a.m. at the Trinity Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Born at East Liverpool, Ohio December 8, 1930, she was a daughter of the late John R and Edna Moon Meanor. A lifetime area resident, she was retired from the Hancock County School System after 20 years of service working as the secretary at Oak Glen High School. She was a member of the Wellsville 1st Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. “Hack” Murray on October 28, 1997. Survivors include one son, David L. Murray and his wife, Brenda of East Liverpool; one step-daughter, Kristen Harrison of Cortland, Ohio; and one step-son, James Murray and his wife, Debbie of Florida.

There are four grandchildren, Tyler Murray and his wife, Brittney, Zack Murray and his fiancé, Abby Monte, Kaitlynn Murray and Gracie Murray; and two step-grandsons, Shawn and Richard Murray; and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind one sister, Shirley Johnston of East Liverpool.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Gary A. Murray.

Friends may visit the family on Friday, December 20, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool. Pastor Mark Blakeley of the church and Pastor Rick Dawson will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery.

Immediately following the service family and friends will gather at the Wellsville 1st Christian Church on Main Street.
