East Liverpool, Ohio- Mary Elizabeth Banks Williams, 89, formerly of Idaho Avenue, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 8, 2020 at 1:45 a.m. at the residence of her daughter following a brief illness.
Born August 18, 1930 in Windsor Heights, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late John and Hilda Greenwood Banks. She spent most of her lifetime in East Liverpool raising her family and working at the jewelry counter at the former Hills Department Store in Calcutta until its closing. She was a member of the United Brethren Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald R. Williams, whom she married August 21, 1950, on April 23, 1999.
Survivors include five daughters, Mary Ann Wasko of New Cumberland, West Virginia, Sharon Barrett and her husband, Dave of East Liverpool, Dona Dawson and her husband, the Reverend Rick of Wintersville, Becky Jordan of Calcutta and Brenda Murray and her husband, Dave of Calcutta; and one son, David Williams and his wife, Pam of East Liverpool.
There are fifteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Dawn Williams; three sisters, Luzetta Barrett, Ruby Morrisroe and Doris Eynon; and two brothers, Clifford Banks and John “Junior” Banks.
In compliance with Ohio State regulations with concerns of the COVID-19 virus a private family service will be held this later this week at Spring Grove Cemetery with Mary’s son-in-law, Reverend Rick Dawson officiating.
