Obituary for Michael A. Young
EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Michael A. “Mike” Young, 73, of Wellsville passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at East Liverpool City Hospital.
Mike was born in East Liverpool on November 13, 1947 a son of the late Charles and Goldie Mae (Cunningham) Young. He was a retired navy veteran proudly serving for 22 years. As part of his service to his country he served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a Chief Petty Officer with the Seabees. After retiring from the military Mike worked for 16 years at V & M Star in Youngstown as a machine shop and roll shop supervisor. He was a member of the DAV, Glenmoor American Legion, Riddle Masonic Lodge and the Tristate Veterans Burial Group. Mike loved working on his antique cars.
Preceding Michael in death were his brother David Young and mother-in-law Beverly Bolton.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, whom he married June 23, 1973, Brenda (Bolton) Young; two sons Kevin Young of Leetonia and Michael Young and his wife Julie of Ashland, OH; two daughters Shannon Higgins and her husband Ryan of Calcutta and Melissa Christen and her husband Dave of Wellsville; five granddaughters Breannah Young of Ashland, Anabell Young of Leetonia, Hayden Higgins of Calcutta, Sydney Higgins of Calcutta and Ava Christen of Wellsville; sister Joyce Hipp of Virginia; brother John Young and his wife Patricia of East Liverpool; sister-in-law Shirley Young of Sturgeon Bay, WI; father-in-law Ronald Bolton of Ashland, OH; many special nieces and nephews and his furry companions Maggie and Molly.
Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Friday where the family will be present from 2 to 5 p.m. Rev. Dr. Vel Vais will conduct a service at the Funeral Home on Friday at 5 p.m. Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park at a later date where military honors will be provided.
Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
