Obituary for Nancy Jean Clark

Nancy Jean Clark, 77

EAST LIVERPOOL – Nancy Jean Clark, of East Liverpool, passed away at her home Monday morning, May 3, 2021, with her family by her side following a lengthy illness. She was 77.

Born in East Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Charles D. “Chuck” and Betty J. Hamilton Hickman. A resident of the area most of her life, she was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1961. She studied at the Humboldt Airline and Business Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota and attended Kent State University at East Liverpool. For 35 years, Nancy worked at the East Liverpool campus in various administrative assistant positions where she worked in the Dean’s office, the nursing school, the physical therapy department, and the library. She was a tireless worker on the annual Wall of Fame banquet and awards. In 2015, she was the recipient of the Friends of Kent State Award for her many years of dedicated service to the university. She retired in 2011.

Nancy was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church and helped teach a class to kindergarteners there at one time. She served as secretary and vice-chair of the former Ohio River Regional Arts Guild and she enjoyed spending time with her family boating and traveling.

She is survived by her husband, Gary R. Clark, at home. The couple married October 6, 1962. She is also survived by two daughters, Diana Zieschang and her husband, Chris, of Florida, and Ellen Clark-McCoy and her husband, Ron, of East Liverpool. There are four grandchildren: Jamie Martin II, Zachary Martin, Tiffany Young and her husband, Randy, and Konnor McCoy, as well as five great-grandchildren: Colby Young, Cooper Young, Morgan Young, Hayden Martin and Harper Martin.

Friends may visit Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The Rev. Eric M. Edwards will conduct a funeral service Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Masks and social distancing are required. Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
