Obituary for Norma Jean Alton

Toronto, Ohio – Norma Jean Alton, 90, of County Road #68, passed away Monday morning, May 25, 2020, at 7:30 a.m. at the Orchards of East Liverpool following a lengthy illness.

Born in East Liverpool, December 25, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Guy Fear and Nellie Lanam Fear Breuss. A resident of this area all her life, she was a graduate of Wellsville High School and a member of the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church. For many years, Norma worked at the former DM Ogilvie’s Department Store as a cosmetics buyer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward “Ed” Alton, on August 1, 1986. The couple married June 11, 1949. She was also preceded in death by a sister, June Luque.

Survivors include her neices, Susan Luque of Spokane, Washington and Elena Luzi and her husband Dominic of Vorhees, New Jersey; and three nephews, Michael Luque and his wife, Tina, of Shinnston, West Virginia, Gerald Luque and his wife, Darlene of Pasco, Washington and Steven Luque of Los Osos, California.

Contributions may be made to Norma’s favorite charity, Hillsdale College, 33 East College Street, Hillsdale, MI 49242.

In compliance with the Ohio State regulations with concerns of the COVID-19 virus a private family service will be held at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool, Ohio this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Gregory Mead of the church opfficiating. We encourage you to reach out to the family electronically at: where condolences can be sent.

Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
