Obituary for Norma Jane Filppula (Rice)
COLUMBIANA, OHIO – Norma Jane Filppula, 90, of East Liverpool passed away Friday, October 9, 2020 at Parkside Healthcare.
She was born November 22, 1929 in East Liverpool to the late Stanley and May (Foden) Rice.
Jane graduated from East Liverpool High School and began employment as a bookkeeper at Patterson Foundry.
She married Paul Raymond Filppula of Mass, Michigan on April 6, 1956. They were married for 53 years at the time of Ray’s death.
They began their married life in Mass, Michigan where they lived for several years, then returned to East Liverpool where they remained and raised their daughters. She was the beloved wife, mother and grandmother who was fully dedicated to God, family and home.
Jane was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and for many years was an active member of the orchestra, choir and as a Sunday School Teacher.
Preceding Jane in death were her husband Ray; grandson Phillip and sister Miriam.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters Susan Johler and her husband Rex and Deanna Filppula; two granddaughters Cynthia and Julie; four great grandsons Samuel, Miles, Maddox and Andrew and brother-in-law Kenneth Filppula.
A private service was held at the Dawson Funeral Home. Burial in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
