Obituary for Norma M. Fry (McGaffic)

Norma M. Fry, 96

SHALERSVILLE, OHIO – Norma M. Fry, of East Liverpool, passed away Monday, August 12, 2019 at the home of her daughter following a lengthy illness. She was 96.

Born in East Liverpool, May 20, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Madora Lockhart McGaffic. A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker and a member of United Brethren Church in East Liverpool which later became The Heights Church. At church, she taught Cradle Roll Class, Beginners Sunday School Class, Primary Sunday School Class, Young Married and Singles Class, the Harvesters Children’s Mission Group and the Christian Endeavor Group along with being active in the Women’s Missionary Society and the Wednesday night prayer service.

Her husband, Harold A. Fry, preceded her in death on December 31, 2005. The couple married November 27, 1941. She was also preceded in death by a grandson Robert Fry, as well as two brothers, Bob McGaffic and Glenn McGaffic as well as a sister, Evelyn DeBee.

Surviving are two daughters, Virginia Lynn Dunbar and her husband, David, of Girard, and Shirley Shaffer and her husband, Donald, of Shalersville, Ohio, and a son Robert L. Fry of Oxon Hill, Maryland. There are 10 grandchildren: Greg Fry, Michael Fitzgibben, Rachael Fry, Sherrie Lynn Mancini, Karen Lee Minich, Brenda Kay Repasky, Roger Michael Bosworth, David Dunbar, Tim Shaffer and Kevin Shaffer, and 14 great-grandchildren.

She also leaves two sisters: Betty James and Karen Taylor and her husband, Bob, along with a brother, Allen McGaffic and his wife, Patty.

Friends may visit Wednesday evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Pastor Joseph Cilone will conduct a funeral service Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the The Heights Church for fellowship.

Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
