Obituary for Patricia A. Pugh (Weimer)

On May 11, 2020, our beloved mother Patricia W. Pugh passed away surrounded by love with her family by her side after a short but courageous fight with pancreatic cancer.

Patricia was born on January 26, 1942 in Prittstown, PA, daughter of the late Abram Lee and Hilda Myers Weimer. She married Charles L. Pugh on June 17, 1977.

The owner and founder of Candy Craft, Pat began selling candy making supplies and homemade candy from a one room building in 1980. Her passion for baking took her to Chicago and California where she learned from “The Cake Lady” Frances Kuyper and the owner of Wilton, Leslie Wilton. A licensed cake decorator, she shared her passion with every customer that walked through the door of Candy Craft. She enjoyed donating her creations to the community, exchanging recipes and creating lasting memories with all who frequented her shop.

A retired Hancock Co. school bus driver, she loved driving the band and the players to games on Friday nights. The memories she made driving students on “flight 24” turned into friendships that lasted a lifetime.

The time in between business hours and bus runs was spent traveling. From almost every state to the greatest countries throughout Europe, Patricia loved to explore the world, especially when she had the opportunity to do so with her grandchildren.

Patricia was preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her, Mary E. and Norman D. Weimer; her parents Abram Lee and Hilda Weimer; her sisters Faye Carnes, Leona Stines, Mary Smith and Betty Jean Lewandowski.

She will be remembered with love by her brother, Lee Weimer of AZ; her husband of 42 years, Charles Lee Pugh of Chester, WV; her four daughters, Terri and her husband Richard Rowland of McKees Rocks, PA, Sherri Woofter of Weirton, WV, Holly and her husband James Trinone of New Manchester, WV, and Cassandra and her husband Robert Kranis of New Manchester, WV; lovingly known as Nanny to her grandchildren Jennifer, Lyndsay, Andrew, Amber , Brandon, Mallory, Jeremiah, Anjelica, Madison, Logan and Alayna; great-grandmother to Evan, Clara and Bennett Rowland, Camren and Fiona Gilmer, Caterina and Beckett Kirk and she was also loved by many nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank her special niece Lisa Lewandowski, Patti Freeman, pastor Dennis Arnold and Valley Hospice for the love and care they have extended to our mother.

As per our mother’s wishes, there will not be any services. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Patricia’s memory may be directed to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at pancan.org or to New Manchester Christian Church at P.O. Box 502, New Manchester, WV. 26506.
