EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Paul Metrovich was a beloved great-grandfather, grandfather, father, and husband during his incredible 82 years of life. Paul passed away peacefully surrounded by family, July 26, 2022, in his home in Calcutta, Ohio.
Paul was born at home on March 1, 1940, to Alex Metrovich and Mary (Pezer) Metrovich in Calcutta, Ohio, and lived in this area his entire life. After Paul graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1958, he went on to earn his B.S. in Education from Youngstown State University in 1964 and then attended Kent State University where he earned his M.S. in Education in 1968.
Paul enriched many lives during his 29-year career at Beaver Local Middle School as a Teacher and Principal, retiring in 1991.
In July 1961, Paul married the love of his life, Linda (Foreman) Metrovich. Paul and Linda went on to have three children: Nanette (Nina) Sue Sullivan and her husband Ray; Lisa Ann McNicol and her companion Charles Bosco; and Paul Alex Metrovich and his fiancée Katie New.
Paul was also a loving grandfather, dedicated to his family, and is survived by his four beloved grandchildren: Andrea May and her husband Jeff, Katie Booth and her husband Josh, Andrew McNicol and his companion Kyle Haddle, and Marisa Dawson and her husband Ethan, along with seven great-grandchildren: Hunter Novak, Keely Booth, Finnegan May, Mila Dawson, Milo Booth, Leo Dawson, and Max Booth.
Paul was also known as a highly respected volunteer all of his life, committing to the following boards and clubs:
Calcutta Lions Club 1975-2022 (Charter Member), Ohio Lions District 13-D District Governor 1992-93, Ohio Lions State Council Chair 1993-94, St. Clair Township Tourism Board - former member, Columbiana County School Employees Credit Union Board of Directors, and the Columbiana County Mental Health Clinic Board of Trustees - former member.
Paul is preceded in death and now reunited with his parents and also his siblings: George Metrovich, Daisy Meek, Sally Vranes, Mary Metrovich, and Peter Metrovich.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Southern Care Hospice and Denise Ciccone for the love and care they showed Paul and his family during this time.
Friends may visit Friday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Raymond Sullivan, his son-in-law and Katie Booth, his granddaughter will conduct a funeral service Saturday 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
Immediately following the service, a time of fellowship will be held at the Dawson Family Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to “Kid’s Sight First,” a Lions Club program through the Melvin Jones Eye Care Foundation, c/o J. Christen, 46711 Sidehill Road, East Liverpool, OH 43920.
