Obituary for Phillip V. La Scola

EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Phillip V. La Scola, Sr., 79, of East Liverpool passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 surrounded by his family at his home.

Phil was born in Wellsville, Ohio on June 20, 1943 a son of the late Paul and Irene (Ladomersky) La Scola. He was a Navy veteran. Phil worked at Crucible Steel as a scheduler and at Burns Security as a security guard. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish formerly St. Aloysius. Phil enjoyed going fishing with his grandchildren and hunting. He also enjoyed going with his wife on bus tours to casinos. He was a past grand knight for the Wellsville Council Knights of Columbus. Phil was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Preceding Phil in death was his son-in-law David Mayfield.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, whom he married June 10, 1972, Bonnie A. (McNicol) La Scola; daughter Diana Mayfield of East Liverpool; son Phil La Scola, Jr. and his wife Natalie of Louisville, OH; eight grandchildren Devon Mayfield and his wife Desiree of East Liverpool, Andrew Mayfield of East Liverpool, Dawson Mayfield of East Liverpool, Grace Mayfield of East Liverpool, Brooklynn Sluss of East Liverpool, Adler La Scola of Louisville, OH, Brielle La Scola of Louisville, OH and Reina La Scola of Louisville, OH; three great grandchildren Arabella, Stella and Ryder Mayfield all of East Liverpool and two brothers Tom La Scola and his wife Ann of Wellsville and Paul La Scola and his wife Carolyn of Medina, OH.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Friday where the family will be present from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Fr. Leo Wehrlin of Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius will conduct a service at the Funeral Home on Friday at 12 p.m. Burial at Columbiana County Memorial Park where Tri State Veterans Burial Group will conduct military honors.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed in memory of Phil to Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors Inc., 1013 Mumma Road, Suite 203, Wormleysburg, PA 17043; Southerncare Hospice, 970 Windham Court, Suite 9, Youngstown, OH 44512 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Southerncare Hospice especially nurse Linda and his home health aide Velinda for the exceptional care they provided to Phil.
