Obituary for Jim Cochran

COLUMBIANA – Ralph James “Jim” Cochran, of East Liverpool, passed away Friday evening, April 29, 2022, at the St. Mary’s Alzheimer’s Center in Columbiana following a lengthy illness. He was 80.

Born in East Liverpool, October 26, 1941, he was a son of the late Clinton and Virginia Ours Cochran. A lifetime area resident, he was a well-known pastor at many local churches. He also was a truck driver at YELP Transportation Company.

He was preceded by his wife, Mary E. Merrill Cochran. The couple married October 25, 1959, and together they raised three sons: James Michael “J.C.” Cochran and his wife Evelyn of Lisbon, Daniel Cochran and his wife Helen of East Liverpool and Andrew Cochran and his wife Melissa of Wellsville. There are eight grandchildren: Lori Wright and her husband Jason of East Liverpool, Ashley Longville of Cuyahoga Falls, Christopher Cochran and his wife Jennifer of Indiana, Stephanie Myers and her husband Timothy of Lisbon, Matthew Cochran and his wife Angela of Salem, Joshua Cochran of Wellsville, Ryan Skinner of Wellsville and Makayla Cochran Wise and her fiancé Jamie Wise of Lisbon, as well as seven great-grandchildren: Alexis and Alaina Wright, Aiden and Peyton Myers, Addisyn Longville, Jase Cochran and Renley Wise.

He is also survived by four sisters, Doris Ann Peters, Thelma Hall, Wilma Talbert, and Audrey Chrisman, and two brothers, Joseph Cochran and Kenneth Cochran.

He was preceded in death by a brother, William Cochran.

Friends may visit Monday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Pastor Benjamin Crouch of Mt. Zion Church of God in Wooster, Ohio will conduct a funeral service Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of St. Mary’s Alzheimer Center for the exceptional care they provided to Jim.
