Obituary for Ralph E. Mattern Sr.
EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Ralph E. “Bill” Mattern, Sr., 82, of East Liverpool passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021 at his home.
Ralph was born in East Liverpool on September 16, 1939. He retired as a truck driver from the J.J. Kennedy Company where he drove a fuel truck. Ralph was a member of the American Legion in Glenmoor.
Ralph was preceded in death by his daughter Teresa Jayne Buchanan; son Roger Lee Mattern; grandson Kevin Allen Green, Jr.; father John Mattern; mother Mary Ann (Higgins) Graham; stepfather Clair Graham; brother John Mattern and three sisters Louise Graham, Betty Mackey and Dorothy Rouzzo.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, whom he married June 28, 1958, Delores “Dee” (Gillespie) Mattern; son Ralph E. Mattern, Jr. of East Liverpool; two daughters Roxie Simms and her husband Bill of East Liverpool and Debby Dudding of Center, MO; six grandchildren Drake Simms of East Liverpool, Jake Green of Great Falls, MT, Erin Wells and her husband Brad of Chester, Amy Mattern Thrasher of South Carolina, Lisa Brokes and her husband John of Center, MO and Nikki Hayes and her husband Logan of Center, MO; nine great grandchildren; two brothers Don Mattern and his wife Karen of Wellsville and Jim Mattern and his wife Cheryl of Columbiana and sister Virginia Hull of Youngstown.
Friends may visit Monday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 4 to 8 p.m. Pastor Dirk Hall of The Living Well Church will conduct a funeral service Monday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. where Tri State Veterans Burial Group will provide military honors.
