Obituary for Ralph Taubert

Ralph Taubert, 93

GLENMOOR – Ralph Taubert, of Glenmoor, passed away Wednesday morning, April 26, 2023, at the East Liverpool City Hospital following a brief illness. He was 93.

Born in East Liverpool, October 23, 1929, he was a son of the late Emil and Freida Meder Taubert. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in Korea and was awarded the Purple Heart. A member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1949, he worked at the former Crucible Steel Company until retiring in 1981 after 33 years of service. He was a self-employed small engine mechanic and later worked at the business that is now Brian’s Lawn Mower Repair. Ralph was also well known in the area for selling Christmas Trees for many years.

He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed camping and gardening, was an avid fisherman and hunter, and loved the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris F. Hext Taubert, on June 5, 2010. The couple married May 12, 1962. He was also preceded by two brothers, Fred Taubert and Heinz Taubert.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: a daughter, Brenda K. Taubert Starr, of East Liverpool, Ralph W. Taubert and his fiancée, Tonda, of Glenmoor, Michael E. Barborak and his wife, Terri, of Homeworth, and Larry A. Barborak and his wife, Sandy, of Wellsville. There are ten grandchildren: Eddie, Mike, Jenna, Shawn, Kayla, Katie, Anna, Chas, Erika and Shane, and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition, he is survived by his sister, Mildred “Midge” Little of East Liverpool.

Family and friends may visit Friday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 4 to 7 p.m. Pastor Rev. Scott Fairman will conduct a funeral service Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park where the Tri-State Veteran Burial Group will conduct military honors.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Century for fellowship.
