Obituary for Ralph F. Wilson Sr.

Calcutta, Ohio – Ralph F. Wilson, Sr., 84, of Calcutta, passed away Sunday morning, August 7, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. at the Calcutta Health Care Center following a brief illness.

Born in Joseph Mills, West Virginia, November 17, 1937, he was a son of the late James Boyd and Iris Mary Underwood Wilson. He moved to this area in 1952 and was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1956. Ralph was an independent truck driver for 20 years, then drove a car carrier for another 23 years for Leaseway Transportation. Christian by faith, he enjoyed traveling and deer hunting and relaxing in the nature on his property in West Virginia with his only grandson, Matt. Above all else, Ralph dedicated his life to caring for his family. He was an amazing son, brother, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol J. Wilson, whom he married in 1960, on September 26, 2011. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Fred Lisle, Sayre Wilson and Stan Wilson; and one brother-in-law, George Whitney.

Survivors include his son, Ralph F. Wilson, Jr. and his wife, Theresa, of Lisbon, Ohio and a grandson, Matt Andrew Wilson and his partner, Taylor Kilbert of Columbus, Ohio He also leaves behind two sisters, Rose Whitney and her companion, Dick Clark, and Mary Kay Campbell and her husband, Rex; three sisters-in-law, Kitty Phillips, Joyce Wilson and Nancy Lisle; and one brother-in-law, Jim Buzzard and his companion, Janice Carter.

Family and friends may visit the family Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home. Pastor Larry Rose of Northside Church will conduct a funeral service Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
