Obituary for Raymond Earl Langdon

RAYMOND E. LANGDON, 71

EAST LIVERPOOL – Longtime Lisbon Street resident Raymond E. Langdon, 71, passed away early Tuesday morning, June 27, 2017, while a patient at Heritage Valley Beaver. He had been in declining health recently, especially since the loss of his wife, Penny, and now joins her in Heaven.

He was a son of the late Aulta and Melva Dean Langdon, born in East Liverpool on January 16, 1946. After attending East Liverpool City Schools, he began working as a carpenter out of Local #171, and later retired after a long career in the steel industry, where he worked as a contractor, and was most recently associated with Siemens Engineering in Pittsburgh. Ray was an expert in the field of steelworks, and was often called upon to assist the engineers, even after his retirement.

Ray loved fishing and playing golf with his family – especially at the Par 3. He belonged to the Abundant Life Fellowship Church, where he established the audio/visual system; he could often be found behind the camera for numerous church events.

His wife, the former Penny Rose Barth, preceded him in death on April 21, 2012. They had been married since July 21, 1965.

He leaves behind his daughter, Joanie Langdon of East Liverpool, and his son, Jeffery Langdon and his wife, Lynn, also of East Liverpool. One of the greatest joys in Ray’s life was his grandchildren, who survive: Taylor Langdon, Shannon Langdon, and Joseph Langdon and his fiancée, Amber Heffner.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenny Langdon, who died in 2011.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Thursday, where the family will be present from 2 to 7 p.m.

Pastor Jeff Schoch of the church will officiate at a service to be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Immediately following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for a continued time of fellowship.

Ray will be laid to rest beside his wife at Locust Hill Cemetery in Chester.
