Richard Isaac “Dick” Jones, 85

EAST LIVERPOOL – Beloved husband and father Richard Isaac “Dick” Jones, of County Airport Road, went to be with the Lord suddenly Tuesday, February 16, 2016 while vacationing in Florida. He was 85.

Born in East Liverpool, October 17, 1930, he was a son of the late Isaac L. and Rose Bourne Jones and a life-long East Liverpool resident. A member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1948 where he was active in the band and played the cornet, he attended the First United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served from 1948 to 1950. After his military service, he worked in construction and was an employee of Crucible Steel and J&L Steel for 46 years. After retiring in 1995, he enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, and loved working outdoors. Dick was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of East Liverpool Lodge 681 Free and Accepted Masons for over fifty years, York Rite Bodies of East Liverpool, and the Valley of Steubenville Ancient Accepted Scottish Rites. He was a life member of the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association and enjoyed going to the East Liverpool Area YMCA.

He is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart, Dolly Brereton Jones, who graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1951. He is also survived by his two sons, Richard Lee Jones (Sheryl) of Kansas and Michael Jones of East Liverpool, his daughter Karen Sue Kohler (Sam) of Florida and three step-sons Jim Willard (Regina) and Jack Willard (Valeria) of California and Jerry Willard (Sandy) of Zanesville, Ohio. There are 9 grandchildren including Jackie Schoendaller (Kyle) and James Jones (Lauren) of Kansas and 7 great grandchildren including Jacob Schoendaller and Jace Jones of Kansas.

He is also survived by one sister, Esther Williams, of East Liverpool.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Floyd K. Jones and three sisters, Florence Todd, Lillian Snowden, and Evelyn Janik.

Friends may visit Monday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Rev. Larry S. Hukill will conduct a funeral service Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
