Obituary for Robert D. Fletcher

ROBERT D. FLETCHER, 70

EAST PALESTINE – Early Monday morning, July 10, 2017, Robert D. Fletcher of State Route 14 in East Palestine, passed away at the Salem Regional Medical Center. He was 70.

Born on April 27, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan, he was a son of the late Dean R. Fletcher and Evelyn Louise Brockett Fletcher, who died in 2003 and 1993 respectively. The family moved to this area in the early 1960’s, and he was a 1967 graduate of East Liverpool High School.

Robert had been a truck driver most of his life, and had been associated with Elkrun Rolloff Services, Inc. for the past 14 years, having worked as recently as early July. He was proud of the fact that he had earned the Million Mile Safe Driver Award several times.

He was formerly married to Cynthia J. Butler Fletcher and Linda Jane Ludwig Fletcher, both of East Palestine, who are the mothers of his children. A daughter and three sons survive: Christine L. Westfall and her husband, Charles Jr., of Morgantown, WV; Michael E. Fletcher and his wife, Heather, of East Palestine; George E. Fletcher and his wife, Wendy, of Weatherford, TX; and Robert J. Fletcher and his wife, Dawn, of Leetonia, OH.

There are nine grandchildren: Kystin Sierra Westfall, Katelyn Michele Westfall, Michael Erin Fletcher II, Cassidy Rene Fletcher, Chelsea Lynn Wynodda Fletcher, Joshua Daniel Fletcher, Aaron Maxwell Fletcher, Skylar Paige Fletcher and Kyndal Renae Fletcher.

Robert also leaves behind three brothers, Charles L. Fletcher of Central Florida, Michael R. Fletcher and his wife, Karen, of Toronto, OH, and Dennis O. Fletcher of Georgia. Another brother, James C. Fletcher, preceded him in death, along with a sister, Roberta Louise Fletcher.

The family will gather at the Dawson Funeral Home to receive friends on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7 p.m. A service will take place Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert will be interred at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens.
