Obituary for Bob Porter

Robert H. “Bob” Porter, 87

EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Robert H. “Bob” Porter, 87, of East Liverpool passed away Thursday morning, September 3, 2020 at East Liverpool City Hospital.

Born in East Liverpool, March 25, 1933, he was a son of the late Henry and Helen Porter. A graduate of East Liverpool High School, he was a Korean War Veteran of the U.S. Navy where he was a Seaman First Class and a Quartermaster on board the USS Tripoli. A “car guy” through and through, his career was spent with the downtown Chevrolet dealer, originally working for the Mike Turk dealership, Buckman Chevrolet Buick, as well as other owners at the facility, where he was a well known service manager.

Preceding Bob in death were two sisters Betty Goodman and Ruth Cunningham.

Left to cherish his memory are his son Robert Porter, Jr. of East Liverpool and sister Eleanor Humphrey of East Liverpool, along with several nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be conducted at the Dawson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in care of the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group, 1903 St. Clair Avenue, East Liverpool, Ohio 43920.

Sorry for your loss. I would see your dad sitting on his porch when I would visit my daughter who lived up the street from him. He was a kind person and when he worked at the car lot always looked out for people.
