Obituary for Robert Shultz

ROBERT “BOB” SHULTZ, 88

NEGLEY – On Thursday, June 23, 2016, Robert Shultz slipped peacefully into his eternal rest and now joins his wife, Virginia, who preceded him in death in December. Bob died of a brief illness at 12:58 a.m. at the Hospice House in Poland. He was 88.

A son of the late John and Ohma Thomas Shultz, he was born on March 8, 1928 in Toronto, OH. He and his family had moved to this area when he was very young, and he had attended Wellsville schools.

A U.S. Navy veteran, he served during World War II aboard the aircraft carrier USS Hornet. For over 32 years, he worked at the former Crucible Steel, retiring in 1982.

Bob was an accomplished trap shooter and had been an ATA member since the late 1960s. Bob shot competitively throughout the United States.

He was preceded in death on December 17, 2015 by his wife, Virginia Monte Shultz, whom he married in April, 1947.

Surviving are three sons: Gregory Shultz and his wife, Barbara, of Brentwood, CA; Lance Shultz and his wife, Dava, of East Liverpool; and Louis Lombardi and his wife, Dawn, of San Jose, CA. He was preceded in death in 1955 by a daughter, Gail Lynn Shultz.

Also surviving are two grandchildren, Harrison N. Shultz, serving with the U.S. Air Force, and Olivia K. Shultz, of East Liverpool. There is a brother, Thomas Shultz, of Youngstown. Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine McDowell, and a brother Donald Shultz.

Friends will be received at the Dawson Funeral Home on Monday, where the family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m.

Services will be held at the Dawson Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Family and friends will then go to the Dawson Family Center for a continued time of fellowship.

Burial will take place at St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
