Obituary for Rosetta L McConnachie (Winters)

On Tuesday afternoon, November 17, 2015, Rosetta “Rose” McConnachie passed away and joined loved ones who were waiting for her in Heaven. Rose was 85.

A daughter of the late William and Beulah Mae Beaver Winters, she was born on June 17, 1930, in East Liverpool. She was raised in Hookstown, PA, and attended Nichols one-room school. Upon her marriage on October 18, 1948 to Wallace “Wally” McConnachie, they moved to their home on the Y&O Road, where she resided ever since.

Rose began working at Hoge’s back in the days of “curb service” and had retired from the former Hill’s Department store after 25 years. She was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church, and belonged to the church choir.

Although she loved spending time with her family, she also enjoyed being outside – working in her garden and flower beds, feeding the birds, and relaxing on her swing. Rose was also an avid reader and spent many years painting with oils.

Her husband, Wally, preceded her in death on March 21, 1991.

Surviving are three daughters and one son: Karen Leepard and her husband, Keith, of Kings Mountain, NC; Cheryl Copestick and her husband, Paul, of East Liverpool; Lisa Fultz and her husband, Tim, also of East Liverpool; and Steven McConnachie and his wife, Vicky, of Wellsville, along with six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. There are also several nieces, nephews, a great-niece and a great-nephew. Rose also leaves behind a sister, Roberta Baker and her husband, Dean.

In addition to her parents and her husband, a brother, William Winters, preceded her in death.

Friends may visit with the family at the Dawson Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Pastor Norm Eckert will officiate at a service to be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, not far from Rose’s childhood home.

Friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center following the burial.
