Obituary for Ruby Ellen Hooper (Watson)

Ruby Ellen Hooper, 84

EAST LIVERPOOL – Ruby Ellen Hooper, lifelong East Liverpool resident, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017, at the Hospice House in Poland. She was 84.

Born in East Liverpool, March 29, 1933, she was a daughter of the late John Watson and Helen Calhoun Malone. For 41 years she worked at the East Liverpool City Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse until her retirement in 1991. She was a member of the House of Prayer and at one time held membership in the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Moose Lodge 122.

Her husband, the late Arnold G. “Bill” Hooper preceded her in death in 1989. The couple married July 2, 1951. There are two daughters, Karen Crawford and Lisa Penn and her husband, Robert, all of East Liverpool, and three sons, George G. Hooper of Lawton, Oklahoma, Ronald K. Hooper of East Liverpool, and Randy W. Hooper and his wife, Vickie, of East Liverpool. She also leaves behind 20 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, as well as a sister, Shirley Lunger of New Waterford.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons: Raymond D. Hooper and Steven W. Hooper; three sisters: Florence George, Mary E. Daniels, and Edith Mae Allison; and four brothers: Daniel Watson, John Watson, Donald Hudson and Charles Hudson.

Friends may visit Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Pastor Kim Gadd will conduct a funeral service Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
