Obituary for Ruth Barlow

East Liverpool, Ohio- Ruth Ella Barlow, 99, of Fisher Avenue passed away Thursday, July 7th, 2022 at 11:26 a.m. at East Liverpool City Hospital following a brief illness.

Born January 13th, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Chalmer T. and Martha Helen Adkins Nicholson. She spent most of her lifetime in this area. At one time she worked for the Department of Defense in Washington D.C. during World War II.

A member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Wellsville, she was a past teacher and treasurer of Sunday School. She also belonged to the Wellsville Historical Society. Ruth loved to read and play cards with her friends. She traveled extensively with her husband. Most of all, she loved her church and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Don Mark ”Pink” Barlow, whom she married March 8th, 1944 at the Old North Church in Boston, Massachusetts. She leaves behind two daughters, Dava Shultz and her husband, Lance of Bluffton, South Carolina and Rachel Blaner and her husband, Mike of Columbiana, Ohio; and one son, Stephen Mark Barlow and his wife, Nancy of East Liverpool, Ohio.

Ruth leaves behind six grandchildren, Mark Barlow and his wife, Katarina, Emily Onufrak and her husband, Matthew, Harrison Shultz and his wife, Olivia, Olivia Shultz, Anna Blaner and Emily Blaner; and seven great-grandchildren, Iliana Barlow, Luke Onufrak, Jacob Onufrak, Christopher Onufrak, Charlotte Moran, Sterling Shultz and Vivian Ruth Shultz.

In addition, she also leaves behind one sister, Helen Piatt; and many special nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by one grandchild, Adison Shultz; one sister, Esther Corbisello; and two brothers, Chalmer Nicholson and Tom Nicholson.

Friends may visit the family on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool, Ohio. Pastor Mark Blakeley will officiate a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in SpringHill Cemetery in Wellsville, Ohio.
