Obituary for Ruth A. Keys (Canton)
EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Ruth A. Keys, 89, of East Liverpool passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at East Liverpool City Hospital.
Ruth was born in Hamburg, NY on January 2, 1934 a daughter of the late James and Helen (Connell) Canton. She worked at East Liverpool Convalescent Center for 18 years. Ruth was an avid East Liverpool Potter fan. She loved Potter sports of all kinds especially basketball and was a member of the Rebound Club. She was known as Potter Ruth. Ruth was also an avid Ohio State Fan.
Preceding Ruth in death were her husband Ronald T. Keys; daughter Sharon Keys; two granddaughters Misty Hickman and Jennifer Keys; sister Martha Vanderberg and two brothers Bob and James Canton.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Rhonda Walker and her husband Mark; two sons Randy Keys and his wife Crystal and Richard Keys and his wife Debby; seven grandchildren Randy “R.J.” Keys, Jr., Nicholas Keys, Ryan Walker and his wife Lisa, Ronald Hickman, April Boudreau and her husband Scott, Tony Keys and Katie Kocher; six great grandchildren Bailee Keys, Brooke Hickman, Brinlee Keys, Domonic Walker, Zachery Prast and Blake Walker and brother John “Jack” Canton.
Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Wednesday where the family will be present from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Fr. Leo Wehrlin of Holy Trinity Parish at St. Aloysius will conduct a service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Burial at Columbiana County Memorial Park. The family asks that everyone attending the service to wear their favorite Ohio State uniform in memory of Ruth.
