Obituary for Serla K. Brandel (Brandel)

EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Serla K. Brandel, 65, of East Liverpool passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at her home.

Serla was born in East Liverpool on February 10, 1954 a daughter of the late Maitland and Erla (Owen) Brandel. She was a graduate of Beaver Local High School class of 1972. Serla worked for over 40 years for W.C. Bunting as a plant manager. She was Christian by faith. Serla attended and was involved with many activities at Longs Run Trinity Presbyterian Church including the food bank. She was also very supportive of the building of the new addition at the church. She also helped many the youth in her life helping them with their fundraisers.

Serla was an avid Green Bay Packer and Ohio State fan. She also was very supportive of her many family members that attend college. Serla was an avid collector of snowmen of all types.

Serla was preceded in death by an infant brother Ray Brandel.

Left to cherish her memory are her brother Richard Brandel and his wife Sondra of East Liverpool; niece Angel Lynn Vander Ploeg and her husband Gary of Daytona Beach, FL; great niece Kaylee Sue Vander Ploeg of Port Orange, FL; great nephew Michael R. Vander Ploeg of Port Orange, FL; great great nephew Allen Robert Vander Ploeg of Daytona Beach, FL and cousins Rebecca Ice and her husband Stanley of East Liverpool, Jenny Sandreth and her husband Chad of East Liverpool, Katelyn Sandreth of East Liverpool, Carrie Tice and her husband Kevin of East Liverpool, Dutch Wright and his wife Hilary of East Liverpool, Bradley Wright of East Liverpool, Jamie Wright and his wife Barb of East Liverpool, Michael Wright and his wife Crystal of East Liverpool, Vanessa Messenger and her husband Mike of East Liverpool, Carol Miller of Negley, Kim Young and her husband Jim of Negley, Jaelynn Young of Negley and Trent Young of Negley.

Friends may visit Monday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Rev. Dr. Timothy Bauler of Longs Run Trinity Presbyterian Church will conduct a funeral service Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.

Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Longs Run Trinity Presbyterian Church for fellowship.
