Shirley Shaffer Marker, 85
EAST LIVERPOOL – Shirley Shaffer Marker, of East Liverpool, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the Calcutta Health Care Center. She was 85.
Born in New Castle, Pennsylvania, December 7, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur and Phoebe Sonntag Shaffer. A resident of this area most of her life, she worked as a loan officer at the First National Bank for over 25 years. She later worked at Columbiana County Jobs and Family Services.
A member of the First Church of Christ (Disciples), she was active in the Red Hat Society, the BPOE Lodge 258 Lady Elks and the Business and Professional Women in East Liverpool. A member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1953, she was a member of its Alumni Association and faithfully attended the Olde Guard luncheon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward R. Marker. The couple married January 7, 1955. Shirley was preceded in death by all her children: a daughter Joni Sue Marker, and four sons, Gary, Brent, John and Jay Marker. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Susan Hall.
Left to cherish her memory are four grandchildren: Riley Pancake and her husband, Travis, Nicole Segura and her husband, Shawn, Taylor Marker and Brennen Marker and his companion, Emily Cook, and a daughter-in-law, Charlene Wilson, and a great-grandchild, Adalynn Segura. She is also survived by a sister, Sally Weymouth and a brother, Alan Shaffer and his wife, Terri.
Rev. Chuck Adkins will conduct a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Dawson Funeral Home where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Masks and social distancing are required. Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
