Obituary for Sandy Brandel

EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO – Sondra S. “Sandy” Brandel, 70, of East Liverpool passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11:53 p.m. at her home surrounded by her family.

Sandy was born in East Liverpool on February 14, 1951. She was a member of the East Liverpool Moose Lodge # 122, Sandy loved to play bingo. She loved kids and raised many kids at her daycare that she operated out of her home. Her daughter and grandchildren were the love of her life and she was a dedicated military wife for over 20 years to the love of her life, her husband Richard. Sandy enjoyed helping many people when she worked at Comfort Keepers. Sandy was one of the guitar girls of the Seven to Midnight Band.

Preceding Sandy in death were her mother Verla V. (Alford) Swoger and brother Daniel Swoger.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 50 years, whom she married September 10, 1971, Richard Brandel; daughter Angel Vander Ploeg and her husband Gary of Port Orange, FL; two grandchildren Michael Vander Ploeg and his longtime girlfriend Shannon Monahan of Daytona Beach, FL and Kaylee Vander Ploeg and her partner Shelby Ford of East Liverpool; great grandson Allen Vander Ploeg; two sisters Martha Stillwell of Calcutta and Amanda Rice of East Liverpool and brother Kenneth Swoger.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Friday where the family will be present from 1 to 3 & 5 to 7 p.m. Her grandson Michael Vander Ploeg will conduct a service at the Funeral Home on Saturday at 12 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date at Riverview Cemetery.
