Obituary for Susan Elizabeth Crabtree (Yanni)

SUSAN E. CRABTREE, 67

EAST LIVERPOOL – Lifetime East Liverpool resident Susan E. Yanni Crabtree passed away in the presence of her family at UPMC Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh early Friday afternoon, June 9, 2017. Susan, who had been battling cancer for several years, was 67.

A daughter of the late Frank and Jean Miles Yanni, she was born in East Liverpool on August 28, 1949. She was a graduate of Beaver Local High School, where she was Prom Queen her senior year.

Susan and her husband, Ron, whom she married in November 1969, were well-known as the owners and proprietors of the former Yanni’s Café in downtown East Liverpool. She knew each of her “regulars” by name and would greet every stranger as a friend.

She was also a member of the Colloquium Club and loved playing cards with friends and with her grandson. Susan also enjoyed time spent camping with her loved ones, especially at Wildwood Acres.

Ron survives her at home. She also leaves behind a daughter, Joanna Buchheit and her husband, Mike, of East Liverpool, as well as a son, Greg Crabtree and his wife, Rhonda, of Lisbon.

Her beloved grandchildren also survive, Justin, Joey and Michael Buchheit, as well as a sister-in-law, Nancy Yanni, a niece, Jennifer Yanni, many cousins, extended family and countless friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Yanni.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Monday, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home by Evangelist Will Montgomery.

Susan will be buried near her parents at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
