Obituary for Terry Jean Coen (Martin)

East Liverpool, Ohio- Terry Jean Coen, 75, of Northside Avenue passed away Friday, May 31, 2019 at 9:30 pm at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Born October 11, 1943 at Mineral Wells, Texas, she was a daughter of the late Melvin and Marjorie Maple Martin. A lifetime area resident, she was retired from The Carriage House in East Liverpool where she worked for many years alongside the late store owner Jim Shepherd as their floral designer.

A 1961 graduate of Wellsville High School, she was a member of the Hammondsville United Methodist Church, where she was a board member. A member of TOPS #1957 in Wellsville, she was crowned this past April as the State of Ohio TOPS Queen.

Preceded in death by her husband, former East Liverpool Police Chief Charles B. Coen, whom she married August 11, 1963, who passed away January 13, 1998.

Survivors include one daughter, Polly Krawiec and her husband, James of East Liverpool, Ohio; and one son, Michael D. Coen and his wife, Patty of Delaware, Ohio.

There are five grandchildren, Thara Watson and her husband, Justin, Ashley Coen Guy, Sammi Cline, Mike Coen, and Charlee Ann Krawiec; and six great-grandchildren, Natalie, Melanie, Gemma, Vienna, Gianna and Jace.

Also surviving is one brother, Dr. Randy Martin and his wife, Jamie of Indiana, Pennsylvania.

She also leaves behind her longtime companion, Frederick “Ted” Workman of Hammondsville, Ohio.

Friends may visit the family on Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 1:00 to 5:00pm at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool, Ohio. Pastor Larry Rose of the Northside Community Church will officiate a funeral service on Monday at 1:30 pm at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Immediately following the service family and friends will gather at the Northside Community Church.
