Obituary for Ted Diddle

East Liverpool, Ohio- Thomas Edward “Ted” Diddle, 91, of Annesley Road passed away Sunday, March 27th, 2022 at 1:09 a.m. at the Lisbon Continued Health Facility following a lengthy illness.

Born August 31st, 1930, he was a son of the late Edward Coleman and Verna Doris Frazier Diddle. A lifetime area resident, Ted retired from the former Crucible Steel Company’s Cold Strip after working as a roller for 35 years. A veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War, he worked as a tank mechanic for two years and then served in the National Guard.

A graduate of East Liverpool High School Class of 1948 and a member of the First Free Methodist Church, Ted was active in numerous projects and events through the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #374, he was also active with the Beaver Local School Boosters, volunteered for the Columbiana County Forest & Parks Service, and was a 60+ year member of the Masonic Lodge #681. Ted enjoyed people, never met a stranger, was always quick with a joke, he loved to cook for various events around the community, but more than anything, he loved spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Watkins Diddle, whom he married November 2, 1951, on July 31st, 2016.

Ted leaves behind three daughters, Debra K. Sines and her husband, John of Mogadore, Ohio, Vickie L. Jordan and her husband, Leonard of Wellsville, Ohio and Cheryl A. Coalmer of Columbiana, Ohio; and two sons, Daniel T. Diddle and his wife, Brenda of East Liverpool, Ohio and Michael E. Diddle and his wife, Kathy of Wellsville, Ohio.

There are thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Ted is also survived by one brother, Dale Diddle and his wife, Grace of Calcutta, Ohio.

Besides his wife and his parents, Ted was also preceded in death by three sisters, Doris Diddle Hill and Audrey Diddle Loos and Betty Estell; and one son-in-law, Tom Coalmer.

Friends may visit the family on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool, Ohio. Pastor David Peterson will officiate a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

A Masonic Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday

The Tri-State Veteran’s Burial Group will accord full military honors.

Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Following the service the family will gather at the Dawson Family Center.

The family requests contributions be made to the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association.
