Obituary for Thomas E Shuman

THOMAS E. SHUMAN, 76

EAST LIVERPOOL – Moore Street resident Thomas E. Shuman passed away at the age of 76 on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. He had been residing at Calcutta Health Care Center, where he died at 6:10 a.m. surrounded by his family.

A son of the late Mary and John Shuman, he was born in Toll Gate, West Virginia on March 6, 1941.

For over 35 years, he worked in the slip house at Homer Laughlin China Company as a press puller, retiring in 2003. In his free time, he loved to go fishing and camping.

Preceding him in death on January 21, 2008 was his wife, Sue Jean Shuman.

Surviving are his daughter, Lorie Bryan and her husband, Jim, of Chester, along with two stepdaughters, Shannon Jane Harman and her husband, “Buddy” of Lisbon, and Bobbie Sue Leisure and her husband, Dean, of East Liverpool; and two stepsons, John William Donald Watkins, Sr. and his wife, Mary, also of East Liverpool; and Jim Watkins, of Calcutta.

There are thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, as well as two sisters, Mildred Riggleman of Aurora, CO, and Jean Shuman of Pennsboro, WV, along with two brothers, Robert “Bob” Shuman of Newell, and Kenneth Shuman of New Cumberland.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Wells, and by three brothers, Charles Shuman, Donald Shuman and Richard Shuman.

Friends may visit with the family from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Pastors Bob and Pam Kidd from East Liverpool City Hospital will officiate at a service to be held at 1:00 p.m.

Burial will take place at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell.
