Obituary for Thurman Mayfield
East Liverpool, Ohio - Thurman Lee Mayfield, 79, of Annesley Road East Liverpool, passed away Saturday evening, April 16th, 2022 at 10:12 p.m. at the Weirton Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born in East Liverpool, Ohio on February 3rd, 1943, he was a son of the late Brookes and Lilly Maud Casto Mayfield. He most recently worked as a truck driver, and previously had been a meat cutter, worked maintenance at a hotel and was a handyman operating his own business, T & M Construction.
He spent most of his lifetime in this area. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Viet Nam.
Survivors include his wife, Terry Morehead Mayfield, at home. The couple married December 29, 1973. He also leaves a daughter, Teresa Gough and her husband, Frank, of East Liverpool, a son James “Jimmy” Mayfield and his wife, Julie, of East Liverpool; and a daughter, Betsy Genzlinger and her husband, Roger of North Carolina There are ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He also leaves behind one sister, Garnet Smith and one brother, Ralph Mayfield.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, David L. Mayfield, and his step-mother, Ruth Mayfield.
Pastor Norm Eckert of the Beechwood Free Methodist Church will conduct a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Friends may visit from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Calcutta Cemetery.
Immediately following the service the family will gather at the Dawson Family Center.
