William H. “Buddy” Emmerling, III, 62
EAST LIVERPOOL - William H. “Buddy” Emmerling, III, of East Liverpool, passed away Monday morning, June 24, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown following a brief illness. He was 62.
Born in East Liverpool, December 27, 1956, he was a son of the late William H. Emmerling, Jr. and Alice Louise Crowe Taylor. A lifetime area resident, Buddy was a member of the Wellsville High School Class of 1976 and also graduated from the East Liverpool Vocational School. He worked at Majestic Manufacturing in New Waterford where he built bumper cars and amusement park rides. He was Christian by faith.
Buddy touched the lives of friends and family in many ways, whether he was lending his helping hand to anyone in need or making you feel special with his kind and generous heart, while never forgetting to add his special sense of humor.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years and best friend, Cindy K. Smith Emmerling. The couple married March 26, 1977. He also is survived by his precious daughter, Stacy Emmerling Corll and her husband, Ben, who he loved like a son. He will also be greatly missed by his “Baby Girl”, granddaughter, Maggie Jean Corll.
In addition, he is survived by his mother-in-law, Norma Smith of Sistersville, West Virginia, step-mother, Phyllis Emmerling of Wellsville, brother, James Michael Emmerling and his wife, Cathleen of Sheffield Lake, Ohio, and three sisters: Terri Poynter and her husband, Coleman, of Lisbon, Crystall Flint and her husband, Jeff, of New Middleton, and Alicia Taylor of Wellsville.
There are two sisters-in-law, Teresa Burgey and her husband, David, and Donna George and her husband, Ron, all of Sistersville, two special nieces, Victoria Card and her husband, Craig, of Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, and Amy Thompson and her husband, Brandon, of Hickory, North Carolina, and two special nephews, Michael and Nathan Emmerling of Sheffield Lake. He will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Otto B. Smith, Jr., step-father, John William Taylor and brother-in-law, Victor C. Starcher, II.
He also leaves his granddogs, Chloe and Lucy.
Friends may visit Thursday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Rev. Norman Eckert will conduct a funeral service Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
