Obituary for Doug Skeens

Irondale, Ohio- William Douglas “Doug” Skeens, 65, of Old Irondale Road passed away Wednesday, March 3rd, 2021 at 11:38 a.m. at the East Liverpool City Hospital after taking ill suddenly.

Born April 3, 1955 in East Liverpool, Ohio , he was a son of the late William H. Skeens and of Marjorie R. Steele Skeens of Irondale, Ohio. A lifetime area resident, Doug was retired from the Penn Power Company in Shippingport, Pennsylvania.

He was a member of the Chester American Legion, loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Above all, Doug loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Besides his mother, survivors include two daughters, Carrie Lawton and her husband Jacob of Columbiana, Ohio and Elizabeth Jahn of Woodstock, Georgia. There are three grandchildren, Paige Lawton, Preston Lawton, and Warren Jahn.

In addition, he leaves behind one sister, Debra Reed of Wellsville, Ohio; and two brothers, James “David” Skeens and his wife, Sharon of Wellsville, Ohio and Jonathon “Duane” Skeens and his companion, Jona Smith of Wellsville, Ohio.

Friends may visit the family on Sunday from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool, Ohio. Pastor Norm Eckert of the Beechwood Free Methodist Church will officiate a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Due to concerns with the COVID-19 virus, everyone will be required to wear a mask and obey social distancing while in attendance.
