Obituary for Windy Van Dyke

Windy Renee Van Dyke, 32

WEST POINT, OHIO – Windy Renee Van Dyke, of West Point, passed away from a longtime heart condition Monday, January 25, 2021. She was 32.

Born in East Liverpool, July 31, 1988, she was a daughter of Linda Kidder Van Dyke of West Point and the late Carter Lee Van Dyke, Sr. A resident of this area all her life, she was a member of the Beaver Local High School Class of 2006. She was Christian by faith.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Brooklynn Marie Sullivan and a son, Warrick Eugene Lee Tanner, both at home. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Connie Kidder of West Point, a sister, Lindsey Van Dyke and her fiancé Bobby Shaffer, a brother, Carter Van Dyke, Jr. and his wife Brittany, a special niece, Maddalynn Shaffer, four aunts, Susan Ring and her husband Mark, Cheryl Morris and her husband Joe, Lora Eiler and Diane Decker, and three uncles, William Van Dyke II, Mark Van Dyke and his wife Holly, and Bill Snyder.

Also preceding her in death are her nine precious angel babies, an uncle, Lonnie Kidder, Jr., a maternal grandfather, Lonnie Kidder, Sr., paternal grandparents, William and Carol Van Dyke, and two aunts, Kathleen Messenger and Della Snyder.

Windy was a stay-at-home mom. A loving mother to her two beautiful children. Brooklynn and Warrick. She was known and loved by many she met along the way, especially her NICU friends from Akron Children’s Hospital and Nationwide Columbus after having her preemie baby in March of 2018. Windy lived at the hospital with her son for nearly two years, doing everything she could to make sure he got the best care possible. She earned respect from so many parents at the hospital even after bringing her baby home. The parents still reached out to Windy for advice or just to talk about their days, or something their child accomplished, or sadly when one of the parents lost their child. Windy was so proud of her beautiful daughter Brooklynn. She missed her when she was staying in the hospital. She loved when Brooklynn could stay with her the summer months. Mommy was Brooklynn’s tickle monster before bed and snuggles. Her babies will miss their mommy dearly. Windy loved so many. Her little sister Lindsey and her had a bond that never broke. Her big brother Carter always joking and kidding with each other. She always teased him saying she was the female version of him (twins). She had a special place in her heart for several in her life. First being her niece Maddalynn Shaffer – she was like another daughter. She loved watching the girls play together. She said it reminded her of her sister and her when they were that age.

She loved talking about childhood days growing up with her cousins: Billy Van Dyke, Justin Ring, Aaron Ring, Connie Eiler, Abby Ring, Vanessa Kidder, Lonnie Kidder III, and Joey Morris. She met a lot of forever friends along the way: Amanda Reed and Courtney Gardner since school days. She loved making crock pot soups and taking some to her Mammie, especially Gnocchi soup or calling Mammie and asking if she wanted to play a game of cards. There was a lot of good times around the table, laughing all night with mommy, Lindsey and someday brother-in-law Bobby Shaffer. You could say they had a love/hate relationship, but they always had fun times. Sometimes her brother Carter and his wife Brittany got in on the fun. Windy was happy her brother found the love of his life with Brittany.

Then there was the love Windy had for her parents. She loved and missed her daddy dearly. After losing him a year and a half ago. We are sure he’s waiting on her with open arms, welcoming his Windy Pooh Bear home. Windy and her mommy had an unbreakable bond of love.

They had lived the last year together. They had their ups and downs while in Covid isolation, with home schooling (mommy loved that (not)), taking care of her babies and helping her mommy out. Through it all they always had that special love.

Windy was loved dearly and will be forever missed by many.
