Barbara M.
Flowers
Aug 14, 1950 — Aug 22, 2024
Barbara McDaniel Flowers of Palm City, Florida passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born on August 14, 1950, in East Liverpool, Ohio a daughter of the late Virginia and Robert McDaniel. Barbara graduated from East Liverpool High School and then attended Robert Morris College in Pennsylvania. She then went on to raise her two children, Andy and Ann, while living in Columbus, Ohio, Parkersburg, West Virginia and Chattanooga, Tennessee. For the last several years she has enjoyed being a resident of Piper's Landing in Palm City, Florida while also maintaining a riverside home in Chattanooga.
Barbara always had a special place in her heart for those in need, and supported and served the most vulnerable in the communities she lived in through various organizations and outreach. In Columbus, she volunteered in the Children's Hospital burn unit and in Chattanooga she was a member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She also volunteered to rock babies in the hospital's NICU unit and spent countless hours fielding calls for the Chattanooga Family Domestic Hotline. In Florida, she was a dedicated volunteer and supporter of the ARC of Martin County and chaired the ARC golf tournament fundraising event for many years.
Barb's big heart, loyalty and generous spirit especially touched those in her wide circle of friends and family. Whether it was with her neighbors of Piper's Landing in Palm City or Heritage Landing in Chattanooga or friendships she maintained from her childhood, she always loved a warm conversation, a good celebration or just a nice leisurely meal. She was not afraid to share her opinions, but there was always a lot of love that came along with that. Barb, or Baba as she was known by her grandchildren, was happiest when she was with and caring for her family from looking after her parents, Ginny and Mic, consistently checking-in with her sister Jan or gathering for holidays and taking trips with her children and grandchildren. She loved her family, and they loved her. Through challenges and celebrations and just good fun, Barb's strength, vibrant energy, consistency, devotion, and desire to make everyone else's life better was a blessing for her entire family.
Barbara is survived by her two children: Bruce Andrew Rose and partner Rebecca Wilder of Upper Arlington, Ohio and Ann Rose Madden and husband Allen of Atlanta, Georgia. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Hannah Rose, Sydney Rose, Sarah Grace Madden, Wilson Madden, and Virginia Madden. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Jan McDaniel and life partner, Russ Attridge. Barbara is pre-deceased by her parents and brother James "Jimmy" McDaniel.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the Piper's Landing Clubhouse Palm City, Florida on November 23, 2024 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in memory of Barbara to the ARC of the Treasure Coast at www.arctresurecoast.org
